바즈라(산스크리트어: वज्र) 또는 금강저(金剛杵)는 인도 신화에서 브리트라 등의 적들을 물리칠 때 인드라가 사용하는 번개 형태의 아스트라이다.[1][2][3] 또한 바즈라는 불교자이나교힌두교 등에서 주로 영혼과 영성의 견실함을 나타내는 상징물이기도 하다.[4]"

15. 持經功德分

須菩提. 若有善男子善女人, 初日分, 以恒河沙等身, 布施, 中日分, 以恒河沙等身, 布施, 後日分, 亦以恒河沙等身, 布施, 如是無量百千萬億劫, 以身布施, 若復有人, 聞此經典, 信心不逆, 其福, 勝彼, 何況書寫受持讀誦, 爲人解說. 須菩提, 以要言之, 是經, 有不可思議不可稱量無邊功德. 如來, 爲發大乘者說, 爲發最上乘者說. 若有人, 能受持讀誦, 廣爲人說, 如來, 悉知是人, 悉見是人, 皆得成就不可量不可稱無有邊不可思議功德. 如是人等, 卽爲荷擔如來阿耨多羅三藐三菩提. 何以故, 須菩提. 若樂小法者, 着我見人見衆生見壽者見, 卽於此經, 不能聽受讀誦, 爲人解說. 須菩提. 在在處處, 若有此經, 一切世間天人阿修羅, 所應供養. 當知此處, 卽爲是塔, 皆應恭敬作禮圍繞, 以諸華香, 而散其處.”

 

("Subhuti, if on the one hand, a son or daughter of a good family gives up his or her life in the morning as many times as there are grains of sand in the Ganges river as an act of generosity, and gives as many again in the afternoon and as many again in the evening, and continues doing so for countless ages; and if, on the other hand, another person listens to this Sutra with complete confidence and without contention, that person's happiness will be far greater. But the happiness of one who writes this Sutra down, receives, recites, and explains it to others cannot even be compared it is so great." "Subhuti, we can summarize by saying that the merit and virtue of this Sutra is inconceivable, incalculable and boundless. The Buddha has declared this teaching for the benefit of initiates on the path to Enlightenment; he has declared it for the benefit of initiates on the path to Nirvana. If there is someone capable of receiving, practicing, reciting, and sharing this Sutra with others, the Buddha will see and know that person, and he or she will receive immeasurable, incalculable, and boundless merit and virtue. Such a person is known to be carrying the Supreme Enlightenment attained by the Buddha. Why? Subhuti, if a person is satisfied with lesser teachings than those I present here, if he or she is still caught up in the idea of a self, a person, a living being, or a universal self, then that person would not be able to listen to, receive, recite, or explain this Sutra to others." "Subhuti, wherever this Sutra shall be observed, studied and explained, that place will become sacred ground to which countless spiritually advanced beings will bring offerings. Such places, however humble they may be, will be revered as though they were famous temples, and countless pilgrims will come there to worship. Such a place is a shrine and should be venerated with formal ceremonies, and offerings of flowers and incense. That is the power of this Sutra.")

 

((And if, Subhuti, a woman or man should renounce in the morning all their belongings as many times as there are grains of sand in the river Ganges, and if they should do likewise at noon and in the evening, and if in this way they should renounce all their belongings for many hundreds of thousands of millions of milliards of aeons; and someone else, on hearing this discourse on Dharma, would not reject it; then the latter would on the strength of that beget a greater heap of merit, immeasurable and incalculable. What then should we say of him who, after writing it, would learn it, bear it in mind, recite, study and illuminate it in full detail for others? Moreover, Subhuti, (1) unthinkable and (2) incomparable is this discourse on Dharma. (3)The Tathagata has taught it for the weal of beings who have set out in the best, in the most excellent vehicle. Those who will take up this discourse on Dharma, bear it in mind, recite, study and illuminate it in full detail for others, the Tathagata has known them with his Buddha-cognition, the Tathagata has seen them with his Buddha-eye, the Tathagata has fully known them. All these beings, Subhuti, will be blest with an immeasurable heap of merit, they will be blest with a heap of merit unthinkable, incomparable, measureless and illimitable. All these beings, Subhuti, will carry along an equal share of enlightenment. And why? (4) Because it is not possible, Subhuti, that this discourse on Dharma could be heard by beings of inferior resolve, nor by such as have a self in view, a being, a soul, or a person. Nor can beings who have not taken the pledge of Bodhi-beings either hear this discourse on Dharma, or take it up, bear it in mind, recite or study it. That cannot be. (1) Moreover, Subhuti, the spot of earth where this Sutra will be revealed, that spot of earth will be worthy of worship by the whole world with its Gods, men and Asuras, worthy of being saluted respectfully, worthy of being honoured by circumambulation, like a shrine will be that spot of earth.))
